Last updated: 4 June 2026 · Tech Byte POS
This policy describes how we handle personal information when you use Tech Byte POS as a visitor, account holder, store owner, staff member, or guest placing an order.
1. Introduction
Tech Byte POS ("we", "us", "our") operates the Tech Byte POS website and cloud point-of-sale platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information when you visit our marketing site, create an account, or use the Service on behalf of a restaurant or retail workspace.
By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who this policy applies to
- Store owners and staff who sign in to manage billing, menu, sales, and operations.
- Platform administrators we authorize to provision workspaces.
- Guests who place orders via table QR or other public ordering flows (limited data).
- Visitors who browse our marketing pages without signing in.
3. Information we collect
We collect information you provide and data generated through use of the Service:
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored by our auth provider), and role (owner or staff).
- Workspace data: restaurant or store name, subscription plan, billing status, and settings you configure.
- Operational data: menu items, orders, payments, customers, inventory, staff records, tables, expenses, and related business records you enter in the POS.
- Guest order data: items ordered, table reference, and selections submitted through guest ordering (where enabled).
- Technical data: device/browser type, IP address, cookies used for session management, and service logs needed for security and reliability.
- Payment metadata: subscription and payment identifiers from Razorpay (we do not store full card numbers).
4. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service (checkout, reporting, inventory, subscriptions, notifications).
- Authenticate users and enforce workspace access, including billing gates and plan limits.
- Process subscription payments and send billing-related communications.
- Send optional notifications you enable (e.g. browser push, Telegram alerts, end-of-day reports).
- Improve the Service, troubleshoot errors, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
6. Data retention
We retain account and workspace data while your subscription or workspace is active and for a reasonable period afterward so you can export records or reactivate, unless you request deletion or we must delete sooner under law.
Sales history retention may depend on your subscription plan (e.g. shorter windows on entry tiers). You can export data from the dashboard where the feature is available.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security in our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you are responsible for keeping passwords confidential and using strong credentials for staff accounts.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and update profile and workspace settings in the dashboard.
- Request correction or deletion of your account by contacting us (some records may be retained where legally required).
- Opt out of optional notifications by disabling them in settings or unsubscribing from push in the browser.
- Where applicable under Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correction, erasure, and grievance redressal. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Children
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. International processing
Our infrastructure providers may process data in India and other countries. By using the Service, you acknowledge that data may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection laws, subject to appropriate safeguards offered by our providers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated via email or in-app notice where appropriate.
